Hear the Future…. and Prepare For It

One in six Australians experience hearing loss, with this figure expected to increase by 1 in every 4 Australians by 2050. The number of Australians who are deaf or hearing impaired is increasing because of long-term exposure to excessive noise – often in the workplace – accidents, the environment and the ageing of the population.

Many cases of hearing loss can be prevented. Keeping your hearing healthy is largely about limiting the amount of loud noise you’re exposed to, and using appropriate protection (such as earmuffs or earplugs) when loud noise is unavoidable.

Hearing Awareness Week commences from 25th February with World Hearing Day on 3 March. With the expected rise in hearing loss over the coming years, the focus is how to prevent hearing loss and promoting ear care.
