A postnatal exercise group led by physiotherapists can help you with:
- return to exercise after birth
- strengthening your pelvic floor and abdominal muscles
- increasing muscle strength to help with back pain
- general strength and conditioning.
Before joining the group, you will need to see a Link Health and Community physiotherapist and be at least six weeks post-birth.
You can bring your baby along to the class, as long as they are under 9 months old.
As part of the group, you will have:
- an initial physiotherapy assessment to look at stomach muscle separation, continence and strength, and discussion regarding your birth
- 12 weeks of 1-hour classes run by physiotherapists including mat-based Pilates, general strength and cardio exercises
You do not need a referral from a specialist to join this group. You can self-refer by calling 1300 552 509 and asking for a physiotherapy assessment.
